The new Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC) offers a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to treatment in one convenient location in the front of the main UM SJMC campus.

Each and every patient receives expert care from a specialized team. An individualized treatment plan is created to serve each patient’s needs. The team includes gastroenterologists, nutritionists, nurse coordinators, colorectal surgeons, social workers and ostomy care specialists.

For patients who require infusion treatments, there is a state-of-the-art infusion center in a sunny atrium setting. Patients relax in the comfort of first-class, reclining infusion chairs, which feature amenities such as DVD players, I-pod ports and a Wi-Fi work area for laptop computers.

The Ostomy Center at UM SJMC is located in the same building, for those patients who require this customized service. St. Joseph has the only dedicated Ostomy Center in the state of Maryland, staffed by specialized ostomy nurses who focus on patient comfort, education and care.

More than 1 million people in the U.S. suffer from IBD, and that number is increasing. At UM SJMC, we treat more IBD patients than any other area hospital and have the experience and the resources to provide the most expert and personalized care.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center is located in The Cancer Institute, Building A, Main Floor.
